Randall Wilson is an avid operator. He was a regular crewmember of the late Gil Freitag’s Stony (Yes STONY) Creek and
Western Railroad. His 30 years operating on the Stony Creek and Western allowed Randall the opportunity to
explore and record the history of Gil’s railroad.
Randall hosts operating sessions on his own 22’ X 36’ HO scale railroad. Randall’s layout models Southern Pacific’s
“Rabbit” between Houston and Shreveport in the 1990s.
CLINIC - The History of Gil Freitag’s Legendary Stony Creek and Western Railroad
The clinic will study the history of the late Gil Freitag’s Stony Creek and Western layout. Gil created numerous NMRA National Award-winning structures. His beautiful floor to ceiling scenery and his flawless hand laid track are very impressive. The layout began as a small 20’ X 22’ railroad that over the course of several decades would fill most of the second floor of Gil’s Houston, Texas home.
