CLINIC - Classification Yard Setup Using JMRI

This clinic will begin with an overview of various types and sizes of RR yards and the purposes they serve. Then the focus shifts to the concept of “classification yards”, both large and small (yards that are used to sort cars for routing to industries or subsequent destinations, not just storage or staging.) General setup and operations of classification yards are discussed. Next the clinic focuses specifically on how to set up a yard within JMRI “Operations Pro” (part of Panel Pro) as many modelers seem to struggle with how to get yards to work in a prototypical manner using switch list software. Finally the clinic will touch on ways to enhance yard operations including use of RFID and other technologies. There will be illustrative pictures and at least one example video.
