Tim is the Editor and Publisher of Cowcatcher Magazine, a bi-monthly publication focused on model railroad/rail enthusiast news. He is a Principal in Ballpark Impressions, LLC, the magazine owner. Tim has worked as a newspaper sports editor and various positions in the commercial printing business over the last 30 to 40 years.
Tim was involved in a restart of the Cowcatcher Division 1 of the Lone Star Region in 2003, and a year later began independently publishing Cowcatcher Round Up for the division. In 2007, the Round Up became Cowcatcher Magazine and has since evolved into a national model railroad and rail enthusiast publication. Tim is an avid model railroader and has a HO shelf layout and is well along on a new N scale layout, the Whitehurst & Pine Ridge Railroad, which is often featured in the Cowcatcher.

The layout has graduated from the Terrible Twos and is now three years old. Thanks to the pandemic, a lot has been done on this large walk-around layout while evolving from a much smaller table-top pike that existed for 30 years in an adjacent room. The point-to-point layout, set mostly in Arkansas between Dallas and Kansas City in the mid-1980s Union Pacific merger era, is mostly scenicked and about ready for operation.
