David Heyde's layout is in a 1 car garage of his split 3 car garage. The layout is around the walls, about 12x22 double decked with a peninsula on the top level. The top level is the main layout with a small stub end yard in the middle of the top level. A helix connects the two levels in a small side room. The bottom level houses some operating scenes, with the far end of the lower level staging for through trains. The layout is an MKT layout set in 1987 proto-freelanced around the Waco area. It has a working ABS signal system and most of the grade crossings also are animated. David is hoping to be operating next month using JMRI. David is in the process of finishing the signaling at a couple of the interlockers and the lower level. David has said that he is confident the entire layout will be completely scenic’d by this August's 2023 Texas Express Convention. The layout has pretty narrow aisles, and could accommodate 3-4 people at a time to really be comfortable inside the garage. The layout garage room is climate controlled as well.
