Clinic Presenter Stephen Moore

Stephen Moore was born and raised in Fort Worth, Tx near TCU. He graduated with a degree in business administration with a specialty in business computer programming from University of North Texas.

His first exposure to model trains was with his father when they built a neat N scale layout. Stephen still remembers the details of that layout today including round house, turntable, mountain line - it had it all.

In about 2001, Stephen joined a N track club, got exposed to Z scale, and made great friends. He created the world’s first DCC engine in Z scale, created the first double crossover in Z, and made a tabletop standard for Z scale. He was asked to consult with Microtrains on the development of a lot of Z scale products. During his membership in this club, he was trying to model England but found the British manufactured trains to be poor. That’s when he found Kato manufacturing and bought his first Kato train of a Keio metro line train. This is also when he discovered his favorite trains were double decker and bullet trains. He discovered the Shinkansen Trains which were the king of bullet trains all over the world. From that point forward it’s always been about Japanese trains which he loves. He met Hiroshi Kato and his father, when they visited Dallas, TX and has been very loyal to Kato trains as they are one of only four manufacturers that created Japanese Model Trains. Stephen has plans to recreate the Tokyo rail system in N scale - he just needs the space like all of us. For now, he am enjoying creating T-Track modules that help fill the void till my home layout starts, which will include those T-Track modules.

CLINIC - Japanese Trains

Don't miss this one, this will be a fun time to look at just a few of the huge quantity of different trains, mostly passenger and bullet trains (fastest in the world), that Japan has to offer and to be able to ride on. Stephen Moore has had the happy opportunity to explore many of these trains and ride them in real life. He is happy to share his experience and show off a lot of the wonderful, excellent looking trains Japan has. We will be able to look at a lot of the different types of trains and discuss their ridership and accuracy. We will even discover a few secrets they have to maintain such high standards and punctuality. Finding out how much ridership they have just through single stations in a single day is astonishing. Stephen hopes to see you at this clinic and give him the opportunity to share his love of Japanese trains.
