Clinic Presenter Mike Mackey, MMR





As a longtime modeler and model railroader, Mike procrastinated joining the NMRA, however, once he did, he quickly found out what he’d been missing. Mike grew to know how important this organization is to cultivating the hobby and helping modelers grow to their highest potential.

Based on that, he embedded himself into this organization as thoroughly and quickly as he could. He served on multiple committees for the Lone Star Region. He roles, as needed on the 2013, 2014 and 2015 regional conventions. He was offered and accepted the responsibility of serving as co-chairman for the 2016 convention. He also served as co-chairman of the 2023 Texas Express International Convention until September of 2022.

Additionally, he served as regional membership co-chair where he enjoyed helping and assisting with membership drives and recruiting seminars at events around the region. He very much enjoys modeling competitions and has been fortunate enough to place and merit on multiple occasions. Those merit awards have allowed him to become MMR number 573. He is working actively to receive all 11 of the certificates.

Mike’s resume’ includes: being an Eagle Scout, President of the Palestine Texas Jaycees, President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Marine Aquarium Society, Master Model Railroader, Region Membership Co-Chair, Director of Lone Star Region Division 1 for 7 years, 2016 Lone Star Super Regional Convention Chair, 2017 Lone Star Region President’s Award for Outstanding Service and serving on the board of directors of three different 501c3 model railroad clubs. He currently serves on the NMRA International Board of Directors as the Western District Director. Mike has an extensive career as a public speaker and presenter. He traveled across the country for over 15 years delivering software education seminars to the mortgage industry in hotel ballrooms. During that time, Mike trained over 300,000 students. Mike delivers lively clinics and programs full of energy and outstanding content. He has presented numerous clinics for NMRAx over the years. Mike delivered the very first international virtual “Make and Take” program in NMRA history. His portfolio of classes is extensive. Join Mike for a fun filled, and educational session.
