Lee Calkins is from Post Falls Idaho. Lee is a CAD engineering manager in real life (apparently engineering degrees don’t have anything to do with trains), and an enthusiastic N-scaler. He is a big fan of the Union Pacific and has had NTrak modules, but switched to Free-moN a number of years ago given the freedom of what you can do between the endplates. He’s the driving force behind the Inland Northwest Free-moN modelers and the layout planner for the Free-moN layout at the NMRA convention in Salt Lake City and the very Successful Free-moN meet in Evanston Wy in August of 2021. Lee is also on the Steering Committee for the Free-moN standard and Treasurer for NRAIL. He models the Union Pacific in southern Idaho and the Milwaukee Road in northern Idaho.
CLINIC - Free-moN and Farragut Loop
Free-moN is a Free form N scale modeling standard. Farragut Loop is an abandoned loop on a decommissioned World War 2 Naval Base in North Idaho. This Clinic will show how Lee Calkins Modeled a fictional 1980's version of the Loop in Free-moN.
