Here is Kyle's On30 Grizzly & Dilapidated Railroad. Kyle started re-building his railroad after his move in March of this year, 2023. The layout is 9-1/2 x 4-1/4 feet; and track elevation is 49 inches. It is a freelanced layout based around the ideas of Mr. John Allen and others of his genre. The railroad is a point to point; and continuous loop scheme set from 1930 to 1945. The terminus at Grizzly has a small yard, and a 64' (16") turntable, 2 stall roundhouse with one outside adjacent track. The other terminus at Dilapidated has a small yard & interchange track (D&RGW),and a WYE with 20 inch radius. 20" is the minimum radius on the layout. Track is a combination of Micro Engineering code 83 flex and hand laid. Turnouts are also ME, Peco, and scratch-bashed Kato HO.

Scenery is plaster over scavenged styrofoam. All structures are scratch built. The Backdrop is vinyl floor sheeting reversed. Acrylic paint, blue (sky) and brown (mountain shapes). All the details creating the landscape are done in pastel chalks. The small backdrop is done in acrylic(blue) and oil pastels.

Freight and Natural gas are the main commodities handled by the G&D Railroad. Motive power is a K 27 (MMI), a scratch/bashed 2-8-0, a 2-8-0 (Broadway Ltd.), and a 2-6-0 (Bachmann). Kyle built this layout to see how much model railroad in 1/48th scale he could build to fit a 10' x 12' area; without just slapping down a loop of track to 'play with'. However, he does love to "play with his layout." Kyle also does some simple 'operations' on his layout. Stop by and say HI..................
