    Project Linus

The Escondido 1 Room (Remains Open During These Hours

The NMRA National Convention tradition of making blankets for Project Linus continues at the 2023 Texas Express. Project Linus is a non-profit organization providing new, handmade blankets to children in need. The blankets are lovingly made by adults and children from all walks of life and many different sources, and is a favorite activity at the NMRA national conventions in The General Interests Activities Crafts and Community. For more information on Project Linus, click the link below:

The Project Linus Escondido 1 room is next to the General Interests R&R and Craft Activities room 2 & 3.

    What is Project Linus?

  • Project Linus – the perfect name – based on the adorable security blanket-toting character from the Peanuts comic strip. Creator Charles Schulz was aware of our efforts and was delighted to have Linus inspire blanket makers (blanketeers) to help comfort children in need.

  • Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization and shares its two-fold mission in its Project Linus chapters of a National Organization – through service in our community, provide comfort to children.

  • First, it is the Project Linus mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by “blanketeers”.

  • Second, it is the Project Linus mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

  • The Project Linus room is open to anyone wishing to help make quilts. If you know how to cut a piece of fabric, or iron seams, we can use your help! All the materials are supplied including the sewing machines! There will be people there to guide you. Let’s see how many we can create before the end of the week!

  • No Cost
